MSI GT680R-008US Overview

Last year’s MSI GT660 notebook impressed featuring its quad-core power, fun and customizable lights, and loud speakers. However, that system lacked the full HD display and cost an attractive penny. With the GT680R-008US, MSI has added a 1080p screen, a faster Sandy Bridge Core i7 CPU, and beefier Nvidia Geforce GTX 460M graphics fully competent at delivering DirectX 11 eye candy.

Design
The MSI GT680R-008US has the same basic design since its previous model, but the looks have been increased to the stylish put in place so it almost looks too grand and opulent. There are a few fancy cuts at angles on the edges and has a glossy, beveled lid including a glowing MSI logo. On opening the laptop, you find a blend of glossy finish and matte textures. The gloss is exactly what captures the eye and there is a gradual fade in the colour at a glossy piano black to some glossy slate grey colour. This cuases a honey comb patterned palm rest.

Display & Audio
The display is additionally excellent with full HD resolution (1920×1080). The 15.6-inch size offers versatility, that you can take the MSI GT680R-008US together with you traveling relatively easily (even at 7.7 pounds) in comparison with a 17.3-inch desktop replacement. On the contrary, the screen isn’t so minute the point where gaming is actually difficult. It’s a nice midsize glossy display.

Performance
The GT680R carries a second-generation 2.0-GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 2630QM CPU, 8GB of RAM, including a 7,200-rpm 1TB disk drive.MSI also includes a TurboBoost function to overclock both the CPU and GPU, so power users can squeeze even more juice beyond the system at the touch of your mouse. To access this feature, just tap the Turbo button on the strip at the surface of the deck. Whether it is on, the orange LED will light it up. The dual 7,200-rpm, 500GB computer drives (arranged within a RAID 0 array) completed the LAPTOP Transfer Test in 1 minute and 22 seconds for any speed of 62.1 MBps, almost twice the category average (34.7) and way faster than the Envy 17 3D (28.3) and the XPS 15 (33.3).The GT680 easily handled multitasking and didn’t reduce regardless if we opened 10 programs and switched bewteen barefoot and shoes.
