Is your computer becoming slower and slower each day? Everyone who owns or uses a computer experiences this problem sooner or later. There are a few things you can try to get your computer running faster again.

Every day you use your computer it accumulates more and more “junk”. Most of this junk is temporary files that are only used once or twice, and then just sit on your computers hard drive. The majority of these temporary files are the result of surfing the internet.

The first thing we can do is delete all of your temporary internet files. This is a task that should be done every week or so, depending on how often you use the internet. On your internet explorer menu, choose Tools, then Internet Options.

This examples is for Internet Explorer 8. Previous versions may vary slightly. Choose delete, then the window on the right should show up. I like to keep the default options set here. Click delete, then your temporary internet files will be deleted. This is a quick way to add a little speed to your system.

Then other big culprit for slow systems is disk defragmentation. This is an easy fix but takes some time.

Right click on “My Computer, and select manage. The computer management module should popup. Toward the bottom under the storage section you should see Disk Defragmenter. Select that option and you should see two options to the right, Analyze and Defragment. All you need to do is hit the defragment button and let it go. This will take some time to complete especially if you have a larger disk.
